Subject:Portamento in ACID?

I've been using freeware trackers for ages and I am fond of the portamento function. I.e., I can take a loop (like a pad) and make smooth pitch transitions from one tone to another over a defined time period. Basically I could emulate something like a slide-whistle sound, if I wanted.

I've been trying out the latest ACID demo and I'm stumped as to how to accomplish this. I figured there must be some sort of pitch controller for a track, which would work like an FX envelope. No?

Cheers, lak.

Try the Time Stretch and Pitch Shift plug-ins.

You can also try copying and pasting a portion of the event across an amount of time.

Thanks for feedback. Unfortunately the plugins only allow a single setting and then I can only change its intensity with the envelope. The pitch change that I've set will be the same throughout the whole track. The closest I can seem to get to a portamento is to break a looped track up into several pieces and re-pitch each section separately. It's hard to get it to sound smooth though.

I'm not sure what you mean by your second sentence. Can you elaborate?

Thx!

My bad. I mistook a portamento for a sostenuto. Duh...that's what I get for not brushing up on my theory.

The technique I described was more or less for a sostenuto rather than a portamento. However, you could still cut up a portion of a loop rather than the whole loop and copy and paste it along a portion of time just by using the Draw Tool+holding down "Ctrl" and clicking and dragging.

I can email you a sample of this if you'd like. It actually sounds rather convincing.
