Hi folks. This may sound like a stupid question, sorry. I am working in Sound Forge Audio Studio V10. (Came with VMS Plat suite). I am not a sound guy, obviously, but have a lot of video experience and may be "incorrectly" comparing the two editing styles. I am working with an audio clip to try to get the effect I am looking for. If I close the effect window and try another I can't seem to be able to go back and edit effect #1. I also don't see any effect button indicating that any effects are applied. Am I approaching this in the wrong way ? Thanks |

I'm not sure exactly what your doing .... and without bringing the plug-in chainer into the equitation, Select part or all of a waveform, Select the effect or process you wish to use in the menus or "FX Favorites", then click "Preview" in the FX window, to audition the process, adjust the parameters to your liking and click "OK" to execute. If you decide you do not like it after executing, click "Undo". When you 'Save' the file, It cannot be undone unless the 'Allow undo past save' is enabled or "Render as" to make incremental updates. It's advisable to "Save-as" and keep the original in any case, (some of this may not apply to the SF AS versions) Addendum: - In FX Favorites, click 'Organize' to add effects to that folder for easier access. - By default, if none of the waveform is selected, the entire timline will be previewed and/or processed. I think I understand what the op is trying to do. SF, once you hit the Okay button and apply an effect, works destructively on the waveform. That's why it's important to make saves whatever you do so you can go back to a non-effected version. And the op wants to do something you can't do in SF and that's go back and change parameters on an effect that's been applied to a waveform. You could hit the Undo which would totally undo what effect was applied but the effect gui will not re-open. Once you apply an effect in SF the effect gui goes away never to be seen again. One of the little headaches of working in a destructive editor versus working inside daw software where one can change effects and parameters to your heart's content. Jack |
