When I reduce the volume of an entire file using 'volume' under the Process tab, clicks appear randomly throughout the file. Is there a better way of reducing a loud file, or is my sound card at fault? thanks, robert |

That is not normal, nor does it happen here; can't suggest what causes it. I only use and tested with 44.1kHz/16bit or 48kHz/24bit standard .wav files; are you perhaps using some other file format and have exposed a bug? Are the clicks perhaps only in preview? - i.e. if you save file and play in some other application, are there still clicks? Which Audio Device Type do you use?... Have you tried increasing/decreasing playback buffers? Fundamentally, volume processing is CPU maths, and should not be soundcard performance dependant, except for playback Message last edited on3/17/2011 2:17:33 PM byChristoC. |

clicks appear randomly throughout the file. -- Are you stating these are visible in the waveform? Process> Volume' .. in the 'More' tab at the bottom of the window, is the 'Wet gain' set to 0.00 and the 'Dry gain' set to -Inf. Set the the cross-fade parameter to a linear ' X ' ? Thanks for replying, The file was a .wma file, 44.1kHz/16bit. The clicks are there during preview and if processed and saved. I use Windows Classic Wave Driver, and have tried ASIO also. I did try various buffer settings. I placed the file on another computer with another audio editor, and it was perfect after lowering the volume (Creative WaveStudio). I don't usually use .wma's. Update: I converted the file to a wav. first, and that appears to work okay when lowering the volume. thanks, robert Message last edited on3/18/2011 11:12:08 AM byrstrong. |
