Subject:Problem with Merge L/R to stereo function

Hi Folks, I can't get a pair of mono audio files to open in SF as a merged stereo file. To test this I created 2 new mono files in Sound Forge, each 5 secs in length, 96k, 24bit, and inserted a simple synthesis test tone on each one. I saved the first as Test1L.aif, and the 2nd as Test1R.aif. In the file open dialog I made sure "Merge L/R to stereo" was checked, then I [ctrl]-clicked each of the files (so they both show up in the selected "file name" field; each file name surrounded by double quotes). I then clicked the Open button. Both files open as separate mono files in Sound Forge. I went through this exact procedure with a friend whose running Sound Forge 9, and he gets the expected merged stereo file. Is this an issue possibly with SF 10.0c, or pilot error? Thanks for any help. |

I just tried in SoundForgePro10c: If original files are .AIF it doesn't work. If original files are .WAV it works! To fix, convert your original files to .WAV |

Astounding. Thanks for the great sleuthing ChristoC! Now I've got a workaround for processing split stereo files generated from Pro Tools. I'm kind of surprised to find this issue in v.10. |
