Subject:Scary open files bug - Windows 7 or SF 10c?

I was using the Open Files dialogue to locate a file. I was in details view and pressed the date button to order the files by date - and they disappeared! I opened the files in Explorer and the folder appeared empty, though write-clicking the details showed there were files there. After much messing about I realised that Windows 7 had "optimized" the folder for music files and this meant hiding the wav files for some reason. I set the the optimization back to General Items and the files reappeared. Why would clicking on date in the open files dialogue have this effect? Thanks. |

It's a bug in both W7 and Vista with Explorer. They reclassify your folders based on content without your knowledge or permission. |

Thanks for the confirmation. I hadn't encountered it before. That it showed up in an open file dialogue only added to my confusion and worry. Kit |

There is no connection I am aware of between the default file "Open With" application and the folder view style. Message last edited on5/1/2011 8:23:38 PM bymusicvid10. |
