Quicktime is running fine on my system all by itself, but when I try to paste a small video file into the timeline, I get a message saying that quicktime isn't properly installed. I followed the directions to reinstall it anyway, which went fine, but I'm still getting the message and I can't paste .mov files into Acid 3.0b. Any suggestions?

Is it a Quicktime wrapped around flash? Those will not load. Also, make sure you have the Quicktime authoring components installed- no need for QT pro, just the free version with authoring.

The movies I'm trying to put on the timeline have no flash components.

I've got the free version of quicktime, but I don't know if I've got the authoring components or not. How do you tell?

You can tell if you have the authoring components installed by reinstalling Quicktime. During the installation there is a point at which the installer asks you what type of installation you would like. There is an option to select an installation for content creators. This would be the one that you would want to choose.
