Subject:Sound Forge 10-can't save

I opened a sound effect in sound forge audio studio 10. I change the speed of the sound to slow it down so it has the sound effect I want. But when I "save as' it saves it as the original sound.
Can't I save a sound after I change it?
If I can what am I doing wrong?
Thanks for your help!

What are you using an effects/process' or merely changing the sampling rate? Describe exactly what you are doing. You should be able to 'save' or 'save as' a changed file. Are you sure it's being saving to the desired folder?

1. I opend a pre-recorded sound effect. it is a .wav
2. I slowed down the rate speed. I changed this with the gold arrow at the bottom of the window that the sound effect is in.
3.Then I go to top of screen and click FILE then SAVE AS, saved it as "Low Tone" in a folder I created called "My Sound Effects".
4. When I open "My Sound Effects" then select "Low Tone" it plays back at the original speed not the slowed down one that I saved.
The original sound effect was .wav and when I saved it I also saved it as .wav

Also when I go into the Help section of the sound forge studio, it states that if I right click on the window that the sound is in that I can select "save as" then select the folder I want to save it in. But when I do that there is no "save as" to select.

That does not change the speed of the file, it just changes the preview playback speed!

The correct way to change the speed of the file is to select it, then from the Process Menu select "Time" then "Time Stretch" ..... manupulate the file that way and then save.

ChristoC I tried what you said but I still don't get the same sound that I am in the preview window.
I can slow down the speed in the "time stretch" but it still doesn't sound the same as in the preview window when I slide the "gold arrow thing" to the left to change the rate.

Another option: Change the file's 'sample rate' under 'Properties' This exhibits the same characteristics as retarding the 'rate slider' (and like a analogue tape machine's pitch control) slows down the speed and lowers the pitch.
Enter a custom sample rate under 'File properties' to get your desired 'effect'. Slowing down 10% would be a rate of 44,200Hz However prior to saving, you MUST then 'Re-sample' back to a standard sample rate. For instance, 48kHz. audio for video work.

I would disagree with the "must resample". You can certainly save a file at a different sample rate and *most* applications will handle it just fine. But, you may occasionally find a program that doesn't so you will have to resample for use in those programs, but they should be quite rare.
