I have SF10 Studio and I wish to install some VST plug-ins (there are several free around the web).
Where should I copy the plug-in dll file in order to let SF "see" it?

Thanks for the answer

I have SF10, so this is just a guess:

Options|Preferences|VST Effects tab. Here you can specify where you want SF to look for the plug-ins. Or you can just go with the default.

In all my current and previous PCs, (since SF started supporting VST effects... SF-6 or 7 as I recall) the VST folder(s) resided in the "C:\Program Files" folder. Naming it VST (or something like that) makes it easy for SF to 'find' without any intervention on your part. I suppose (?) you could place it in almost any folder, as long as you enter it in the VST Effects main or alternate search preference.

Thanks.
I created a folder named VST, pointed at it in the Preferences, and copied teh VST dll.
Then, it is necessary to close and re-open SF10 to let it see the new plug-ins.

I would do that. Re-booting your PC would not be a bad idea either, especially if your experiencing abnormalities.

Um, yes. Why didn't you just do that rather that typing a forum message - it would take just a few seconds ?!!!

When you start SF you possibly see the opening dialogue display a message itemising the VSTs being scanned.

cheers
