Subject:Sony Support - not working for me

I installed the latest version of Sound Forge and when I went to work with a track I was unable to add reverb. I have been using SF for many years so I know what to do, however, the software wouldn't even open the reverb window. So after trying several times to resolve this I wrote to support giving them the details of the problem...That was on July 5.

On July 13 I called support to ask if they would please respond.
The response I got in my case was an instruction telling me how to add reverb.

That is pretty poor support. Have you experience better here? I don't know what to do and this is a tool I need for the work I create.

Please provide details about your system, so we know what you're working with. What exactly are you doing, step-by-step to produce the error. Have you tried re-installing SF?

Information about my system:
i7 processor
16 ram
Win7 64 bit
brand new PC

The steps I am using to add reverb
highlight portion of the track
go to effects
click reverb
NOTHING happens.

and I haven't heard from Sony support in 5 days. The ONLY response I got to my question was HOW to add reverb. I explained I have been an active SF using for MANY years...I know how to add reverb. It is NOT working...no response from Sony.

If this is your attempted procedure, I'd suggest reading the manual or Help. That's probably what Tech Support would suggest too.

Hey - The SAME thing is happening to me - Maybe I can explain so someone will understand BOTH of us and give us a work-around or preferably a fix.

I Have SF 8 - Long-time user as well etc etc
Windows XP Pro
SF8.0d Build 128
Intel Pent. 4
Older Computer
Have been using SF products - from 6 - 8 since 2005/6 on this computer

AND Some of my Effects do not work Under Process and Effects - NO I can't do a Restore as it's been awhile now - AND I Don't want to risk un-installing and installing as THEN I have to go through all the builds and re-do install those as well - Is there a work around?

Has NOTHING to do with it - the windows - SIMPLY do NOT come up - There is NOTHING in Help about this anywhere.

I wanted to do a Repair/Install BUT that isn't available it seems in SF8

I TRIED to ask for help at:

But I keep getting: "Sorry, there was an error with your submission"
but it doesn't tell you WHERE and ALL fields except attachments are filled out - SO it won't even let me submit a question - so I thought I'd try the Forums
That's it - So we're BOTH having the same problem - and I guess we probably aren't the only ones

Any suggestions - ANYONE!

My suggestion is rather extreme: Do not buy Sony software. They charge exorbitant prices for upgrades ($239) to move from Sound Forge 8 to Sound Forge 10, they charge for technical support, their free tech support is useless, they don't have a website for bug reports, and in general one gets the feeling they they care about nothing but more profit. I am sorry I bought Sound Forge 10.

OK - I appreciate what you are saying Jerry - But really - This is a Forum FOR people WITH SONY products so that wasn't really helpful was it? And seeing as those of us ON the forum ALREADY HAVE the products - Unless you plan on taking out YOUR wallet and replacing all of our software for us - WHY VENT on a legitimate question - WHEN WE ARE ASKING FOR HELP? - Do you not think it is frustrating - or that we are frustrated enough without your misplaced comment(s) - REALLY???!!

You're right, I wasn't being very helpful. I was experiencing a moment of annoyance with myself for spending $239 for an upgrade. Even Microsoft doesn't charge that much. I am sure there are others who are frustrated too with Sony-- their pricing, their tech support and their apparent indifference to customer satisfaction.
