Subject:Sound Forge 10c and mp3 files

I just installed Sound Forge 10c. The first thing I did was open an mp3 audio file. Every mp3 I tried works, except when each file opens there's a message: "An error occurred during this operation. The reason for this error could not be determined." Sound Forge 8 opened them fine with no error messages. Sonar opens them fine, no messages. Any resolution to this? UPDATE: Not only will this error come up with previously encoded mp3s (encoded in Sound Forge 8), but when I open a .wav file in Sound Forge 10c and save it as a mp3, and open that mp3, it too has the error message! Bad install? Bug? Sound card issue? Thanks! jsg Message last edited on7/23/2011 10:59:35 AM byjsg. |

I have used 1) Audio Studio 8, 2) Sound Forge 9, and now 3) Sound Froge Pro 10 with no problems. My environment is Windows XP-Pro w/SP-3. I have not had any other sound editing program in my PC. I create MP3 files 95% of the time. My input has been primarily MP3 files created by other programs (I have no way of know what), and WMA files. Some of my input has also been from a turntable, cassette tape, and the Internet throung my sound card. Another input has been reading directly from another audio CD. I admit that I use very simple editing features. I also do not have add-ons, eg. iZotope. You do not list your computer specifications. You may want to add that to your profile to help us help you. Have you installed the latest releast (10c). You can download a fresh copy. I would then uninstall your current version and install 10c. Please let us know how everything works out. |

No problems on my XP(w/sp3) or Vista PCs. I don't have a Win7 PC here to check, but I do not recall reading of any SF10/Win7/MP3 issues with that OS either. I have no suggestions at the moment, other than what Big Red already stated.. |
