Subject:Midi, Acid 3.0 and souncard compatability

Im looking to setup a home recording studio and need advice on sound cards etc.

I have narrowed it down to the Echo Mia and Audiophile 2496 cards - are both of these Acid 3.0 compatible? The echo Mia has better audio specs but lacks midi I/O - what I want to know is has anyone had success using Acid 3.0 and the Audiophile 2496 card regarding using the midi I/O on that card. I have a Roland GR-33 Guitar Synth and will be buying a Roland XV-3080 Synth module and want to be able to control the midi functions through the Audiophile 2496. Does this sound reasonable??? If midi doesnt work properly with this card I will buy the Echo Mia card and a separate midi controller.

Any responses to this question will be greatly appreciated.

They are both well reviewed cards, but the Mia seems to edge out the 2496 in sound quality.
I purchased the Mia and use my Turtle Beach Montego as a midi interface. So far everything works great.
In the latest Futur Music (I think thats the name of the magazine) they have a comparison of 4 budget cards, including the Mia and the 2496. The Mia comes out on top.
I have my midi keyboard hooked-up to the Montego.

Hope this helps.

Later.

Hello,
I would make sure but I think they're going to stop making the Mia. I know they discontinued one of their sound cards I would make sure that's not the one before buying it.

It was the Darla24 that Echo is discontinuing:

Check it out here.

On a side note, I love my Audiophile 2496. The only thing negative about it? There are no balanced inputs/outputs. No big deal to me. If you wanted to ditch your SoundBlaster or compatible card for a card that had MIDI, the Audiophile would be my choice.

HTH,

Hello,

Yeah I like my Audiophile too, and I also have a Delta Dio2496 on the same machine, I like the M-Audio products.

I thought the Mia was alot more money than the Audiophile, because I also was considering that card as well when I was looking to purchase.

The Audiophile is worth the money, Mars Music has it for $180.00.

See ya, Rockit
