Subject:loop at 4 beats at 1000bpm?

Hi, I'm using Acid Pro 2.0. I bought some loops from Big Fish Audio and most of their bass, hihats and other loops have properties at 4 beats at range from 500bpm to 1500bpm (according to the status bar) which I think is too much. When painted on the track view, a loop is stretched out too much occupying one measure (instead of mulitple loops in one measure), so you can actually see the whole wave form. When played at 120bpm, it has a drilling sound to it. I played around with the Properties Stretch tab but I can't seem to fix it. Pleas help. Has anybody used loops from Big Fish Audio? Thanks! Al |

Loops intended for hardware samplers or other software are not "Acidized", meaning that Acid will just wildly guess at how they should be stretched to fit in your project. If you have a loop that should only be stretched over one beat of a 4/4 measure, then change the number of beats it is stretched over to 1, etc, until it sounds right. If what you are using is a single sampled kick drum, snare, or similar, it is best to change the track type to "One-Shot" and just lay out your beats/etc manually with single samples. |

Hey natem, Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I actually tried making it as a one-shot loop, and it sounded okay. The big "but" is that I have to paint it one by one which is fine for hihats or claps or kick drums; but a pain for guitar bass or anything that has pitch because when painted as a one-shot it sounds jumpy because it is not continuous. I guess I'm gonna play around with it some more. The support guy at sonic foundry told me he couldn't help me with my problem and I have to contact Big Fish Audio itself where I bought the loops. Thanks! Al |

You can use Sound Forge to Acidize loops. Edit the loop down to the start and stop points you desire (remember to cut at the nullset of the waveform), then in the tool bar there is menu item(i forget under which one) that says "Edit Acid Prop.". In here you can set the pitch and lenght of the loop, or specify wether it is a one shot or beatmapped. If you have Acid you should have at least the XP version of Sound Forge. |
