Vagas Motu Set Up

I have added the Motu 24 I/O to the Motu 2408 MK3 in our recording setup.
We are at Windows 7 64 bit and using Vegas 9, and Sound Forge 10. We use
theMotu 2408 MK3 for studio playback and Sound Forge Editing. We use the
Motu 24/10 for audio overdubs and ADR. When I switch in the Motu console from
the 2408Mk3 to the 24 I/O it wants to default back to the 2408 and will not lock
into the 24/IO. I have to turn off the 2408MK3 and only then will it lock to the
24/I/O? Is there a setting that makes both of these units happy on the same
Motu computer card?

Not sure of i can help here but i use a Motu also.
My unit is getting old now, its the 828Mk2 firewire unit. So this may not apply.
These units have ID numbers that you can assign, do you need to sparate the units with different IDs? The other thing would be if the units are chained with a loop through USB or firewire port, maybe there is limit to how many units can be connected in this way? try connecting the units to separate ports at the PC.
Last, check if there is anything in the mixer panel (control surface) for selecting between the two units, again by ID.
Hope this helps.

Paul.

Paul,

Thanks for the information. In the last hour I did figure out that if Sound Forge
and Vegas are open with the Motu 2408MK3 and the Motu 24 I/O they both
have to have the same sample rate! With the same sample rate the machines
work together (with pci-424: Internal). It is so easy to overlook the obvious!
