OT: Unboxing Video Contest

JasonATL wrote on 1/14/2012, 1:55 PM
I don't know if others entered B&H's unboxing contest (a Sony product is one of the prizes). My family and I made an entry. I used Vegas to edit it and we were lucky enough to be a finalist, among some other creative entries. The rules were to create a simple video about unboxing a B&H order.

If you care to see my entry and the other finalists', the link is:

or, without facebook,

My video is titled, "B&H Special Ocassion." Constructive criticism is welcome. I won't claim ours is the best, but I would appreciate your vote, if you feel so inclined.

Thanks!

I voted for you, but it's going to be hard to beat the dog.

Thanks all! I truly appreciate the votes and the feedback, especially from this distinguished group of folks for whom I have a lot of respect.

As with anything decent in my family, I can't take credit for much. In this case, I only did the video (shot it and edit it) and the bad acting. My wife came up with the concept, script and direction and my daughter did the best acting of the bunch.

We had a lot of fun - which will help to console us when we lose to the dog!

There will only be a sequel if we win. I promise to post an "unboxing of the prize" should a miracle happen. For now, my T3i (the item that we unboxed) is giving me a lot to work with. It is a better camera than I am a videographer, so I have something still to work up to.

Thanks, again!

You got my vote as well - I'll do anything to get a little respect [grin].

"There will only be a sequel if we win. I promise to post an "unboxing of the prize" should a miracle happen"

I have an idea for a sequel

The cat finds the box. After much clawing and scratching, finally gets the box open only to screech back in horror. The camera pans to an open box to reveal - you guessed it: a "dead cat".

Might not be a natural follow-on to a formal occasion, but who knows??

...Jerry

Edit: I had to add the image. If the folks from PETA were to happen upon this post, I could have been in big trouble. "No cats were harmed in making this post!" [more grins]

Jerry - I like the morbid sense of humor -- and my dog loves the idea. It reminds me of a video that someone did submit for this contest that was inspired by a similar scene in the movie "Se7en" in which there is something horrifying in a box. Alas, that one wasn't picked as a finalist!
