Subject:What's the deal with *.sfk files?

Hi all,

I'm sure this question has been raised before but I'm not having much luck searching on the internet. I've noticed that whenever I work on an audio file Sound Forge will create a file of the same name in the same directory as the file being opened except it has an sfk extension. Is there a way I can prevent Sound Forge from creating these files? I don't care if it costs me a bit of computing time. They just seem to be getting in the way and cluttering up my directories. I hope someone can help. Thanks!

Update to SF 5.0d. One of the earlier updates did away with sfk files after a lot of other people had the same problem when 5.0 originally came out. 4.5 used them as well. 5.0d still uses them, but will delete them when the project is closed.

As for avoiding them, the only way you can do that (that I know of) is to open the file in direct mode. That can be dangerous since it would be working directly on the file. If you get an oopsie, you may not be able to undo it.
