I usually use 30-ish tracks in a a song but this project i'm using 42 and i'm only halfway finished.

Everything goes alright until i get to a part where 39 tracks are going simultaneously once 40 kicks in i get intermittent pauses - like an unpleasent stutter effect. (its not because of clipping either) - when i drop the quality down to 22.5k @ 8 bits the audio is smooth where at higher quality it "stutters"

(i'm running 2 busses and 2 assignable effects - 3 are using a 6 tap delay and 9 are using a 5 second reverb)

I'm runnin win2k on a p2 300 with 458MB ram and i'm using a ensoniq 32 pci sound card.

Which is my problem cpu or sound card? or is it something else ;(

Thanks in advance

Have you tried bouncing down the tracks with the effects on them? That can help. (Use CTRL+M on your keyboard with the preferred tracks soloed.)

In my situation i can't bounce the tracks - the song is only half done.

But i went back to some older songs using 30ish tracks, when i first wrote them there were no problems at all. Now when i try them i get this stuttering problem on them too.

It certainly doesn't sound like your system's hardware is causing the problem.

I did have this problem before a while ago, but it cleared up all by itself apparently. (That doesn't surprise me. This is Windows after all.) I'm using a PIII 800 MHz with 384 MB of PC133 SDRAM. My (main) soundcard is an M-Audio Audiophile 2496.

Are you using the latest build of ACID Pro? You can update to the latest version here. NOTE: Opens a new browser window.

Note that the download is approx. 22 MB.
