Subject:Resources for MIDI DLS instruments?

I've downloaded the bass and drum sample DLS synths that SF has offered but I can't find much else on the net. Will more DLS synths, examples, etc. be forthcoming from SF? It seems this has much promise but is under utilized at the moment. I've installed MS's DM Producer but it seems a bit complex right now to use just to get some new sounds to play with.

If anyone knows of any great DLS synth resources on the net, I'm all ears.

Thanks.

Here are a couple -

There's a company called "sonicimplants" that has very nice DLS files for download. They're not free, but they're well worth the asking price for the quality. Their site is at:

There's a program called "audio compositor" that will convert SoundFont files to DLS (or vice-versa) as well as allow you to build DLS files from scratch. If you have a collection of single-hit drum samples, you can "build" a drumkit as a DLS file and play it as midi. The program is at:

Warning: Many of the DLS sounds from Sonic Implants are DLS2. There is a bug in the Microsoft Softsynth that ACID uses that will prevent certain DLS2 files from working. You bascially wont hear anything and will drive yourself batty trying to figure out what is wrong.

We have notified MS about this problem and are awaiting them to release a fix/update.

Are there any other sources for DLS files?
Has anyone been able to convert Akai files to DLS?

Phil
