How do I listen to the music and record my voice through the mic without having the two spliced together in the new track? Do I need two soundcards? I know I can just lay my vocals down on a track then adjust the tempo to match the music but that can be too time consuming. |

http://www.sonicfoundry.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=4&MessageID=80132 Double-click the little yellow speaker icon to bring up the sound card mixing panel. Pull down the Options menu and click Properties, select Recording and click OK. You will now see the inputs that your sound card has. You probably have something like "Mixed Output" or "What You Hear" selected. This means the card will record any and all sound signal flowing through your computer. Check Line instead. This will make sure that the only thing that your card records is the line input jack. Of course, if you're using the mic jack on your sound card, select that instead. |
