I am thinking of purchasing the Acid Pro 3.0 package deal for 699.00 and I need some advice on hardware purchases. For example: Soundcard Interface Device (for instrument input i.e. guitars, keys, mics) Can this program be used for the same purposes say for example as Pro-Tools and get the same professional results? I want to set up a professional recording studio and I need advice. I have been using out board equipment and want to simplify everything and record to the computer instead of transfering things from one device to another. I would like to have things as simple as possible. I am tired of all the wires and outboard fx and recording machines. Please help me! I'm out of room to put things! Wayne |

As far as sound cards go the two cards I considered were the Echo Mia and M-Audio Audiophile 2496 both of which are 24 Bit 96 KHz capable and have received excellent reviews for their performance. I ended up choosing the Audiophile 2496 for its onboard midi I/O and have it sitting in my NT4 PC alongside an SB live, DV500 edit system, LAN, SCSI-3 interface and Matrox dual head graphics cards with no IRQ or resource conflicts. The drivers are very stable and it sounds great. I run my GR33 guitar synth into it direct input and the levels are spot on - you may need a DI box of some sort for microphones etc. The same company that makes the Audiophile 2496 make a DI box called the Audio buddy which would work fine or you could use an external mixer to adjust input level.
