I bought ACID PRO 2.0 and installed it on a couple of PC's at work 'cause some of us at the sound department needed it on our systems. Then I formatted my Home PC and I re-installed ACID and when I was going to register, it said I'd reached a maximum number of installations. I had never been notified of this installation limit and now I really need it on my home PC and I didnt keep the email with the authorization code. I have written an email to Sonic Foundry Support but they're not answering, what can I do to install it again? |

Hello, Once you format your hard drive it changes you computer ID and your other registration E-Mail won't work anyway. If you would have read the Software licensing agreement you would have seen that your only supposed to install on one machine per serial number. And thats pretty much the standard for all software. See ya, Rockit |

I don't think you can install and register SF apps on multiple computers in different locations with just one license. It clearly violates the licensing agreement that you agree to, when installing the program. That is one of the main reasons why SF instituted this protection scheme in the first place. If you need more than one copy active at one time in different locations, then maybe you need to purchase another license. Billy Buck |

Sorry guys, but you CAN install on multiple PCs, as long as they are for your own personal use. The problem is that DJW clearly states that he installed it for other users. That is not allowed. Later. |

Yes, this is true. In fact, I have several SF programs installed both on my DAW and on my "internet" DSL computer. They sit side by side in my home project studio, where I am the sole user. I guess the key criteria, is if you install your licensed version on computers for the "benefit" of users other than yourself. Maybe, SF can help to clarify this issue. Billy Buck |

MyST is definitely right; you can only install ACID on multiple computers if you are the only sole user of the program. Nobody else may use a single copy (license) of ACID at the same time. Iacobus |

That's why people giving away their serial number might be in for a rude awakening when they try to re-register! The person you gave the number to is pluggin' away on Acid, and you're SOL. Now THAT'S ironic! Later. |

How many registrations are allowed ? Is this information mentioned somewhere ? What happens if you decide to reformat your PC once a month ? |

I'm not really sure how many registrations are allowed. If you were a registered user and required help, I'm sure SF would help out somehow with the situation. I forgot to mention that if you give away an old copy of ACID (of which you are registered), be sure to keep it legal and alert Sonic Foundry to the matter, so that they may issue a new serial number to the new owner. For example, I gave away my old copy of ACID Pro 2 to my uncle since it was just sitting around gathering dust. I contacted SF because I am a registered user of that version. SF promptly transferred the license of ACID Pro 2 to my uncle with a new serial number. Iacobus |

That's weird. Take a look at the "Transfer Restrictions" section on the SF Software Agreement. They specifically state that you cannot transfer the software to another party without prior written consent from Sonic Foundry. That means before you even consider giving your copy of ACID to someone, you should get permission to do so first (which is what I did before giving my copy of ACID Pro 2 to my uncle). That also means you should give up everything related to that version, manuals, box, CD's and all to the recipient. And since I already owned ACID Pro 3 at that point, it wasn't an issue. It just means that I should never use ACID Pro 2 again. Iacobus |

Well thats what I would like to do because I haven't used it since I installed the Acid 3 Beta.....Maybe once. I'll give them a call and see what they say. Thanks, Rockit |
