Subject:beat mix problems/pressed for time

Hi,

I'm in a studio, in the process of compiling an album of original dance tracks and and I want to beat mix them digitally.

I did some tests in acid 3 and am getting weird results. And of course I only have 4 days left to finish this project.

I am able to use the beat wizard to prepare and align the tracks, and beat mixing them by adding tempo markers to increase the bpms during the mix crossfade from one track to the next. I am also using the pitch correction feature on each track. Most mixes are only 2-3 bpms apart in ascending order.

However during preview and upon rendering and listening to the mix, I end up with a phazing/phlanging effect during the mix crossfade. Once the mix is over and the next track starts (at it's proper tempo & pitch) the effect is gone.

My only deduction is that the beat mapper's time stretch feature adds a noticeable effect to the audio during the mix.

So my questions are:

Can this phlange effect be avoided without disabling the time stretch correction feature of the beat mapper?

If not, is acid the right program for this or should I use Vegas?

Cheers
