Subject:Using Acid Pro 3.0 with Cubase 5.1

1. Can I (to use a typical example) load a two-measure wav. sample into Acid Pro 3.0, acidize it, set tempo and pitch, and then load them into a the first two measures of a new track in Cubase 5.1 (set for the same tempo, of course), copy and recopy those two measures for the length of an entire song and have it play correctly, in time? 2. Can I put those measures into Recycle to separate the individual notes in order to create new chords (or drum fills for rhythm samples), etc.? 3. Can I load Acid Pro and Cubase 5.1 at the same time and link them so that they play in sync? Can I have the Acid Pro channels appear on the Cubase mixer? Anything anyone can tell me about using Acid Pro with Cubase would be appreciated. I am sure a lot of other musicians would be interested in knowing, too. Aside from Acid Pro (especially if it or at least its samples cannot work with Cubase), is there a way to load samples into Cubase and be able to have them "fit" correctly into measures (quantize?) and manipulate (move, copy, etc.) them the same as one would sounds that are played recorded directly by live musicians (i.e., non sampled)? Thanks! I am surprised that I can find no info on using -- or whether it's even possible to use |

Thanks! _______________________________________________________ 1. You don't have to acidize anything because cubase doesn't recognise any of it. Just cut the wave properly so that it will loop...then acidize loop...then STAY IN ACID and complete your song with the loops that you are using. Then export audio to a folder...you'll be rendering each loop track as a .wav file. Then just reimport into cubase...ie:select a track, place cursor at what point you want the import to start, usually at the beginning. then go file/import audio, go to the folder with each track finished then highlight, click ok and your done. Acid is so much quicker and easier than cubase. Cubases audio features are inadequate in the area of audio loops. It could be done your way, it would work, but it would take you 3X as long! 2. Haven't used recycle so I can't say. Acid/soundforge gives me all I need. 3.That method is tricky...not sure if it can be done...but why would you want to. Unless you have the most up to date processor[dual mind you] with your ram maxed out you'll see worse performance and stability from both programs trying to run properly. Dual processors is the way to go for running multiple programs at the same time. The only program that does both loops and multitracking like cubase in the same program is cakewalks "SONAR". It can do what cubase does and much more in some areas[not all]. But I'm not here to plug another program when I feel that the program to get is the next installment of Vegas Audio...I really hope that they do Sonar one better and add acid support to vegas audio so that I don't have to leave the vegas interface at all to get my work done. Again, work in acid to get your song structure set[sampled rythm section/drums/percussion].Export selected samples to be edited in recycle for whatever effect that it does that acid doesn't do...reacidize the sample...reimport into acid, finish structure. Render each track as a separate wave file into a designated folder. Import into cubase...mix...master...done. On a side note...Vegas Video has a sale till december 24th for $199...It always has all of the same features as Vegas Audio of the same name. To own a program with that much power for that little money is crazy to pass up!!!!!! The video side of things has been updated and the audio side will soon also[late january?]. IMHO Vegas audio would be a great addition to your setup in conjunction with cubase. Each program has certain features that are missing in the other[what a amazing video editor it has, could come in handy some day!]...I'd look into it. Hope that all helps...sorry for taking so long. Later. |

1. As long as they're in the same exact tempo, there should be no reason why it wouldn't work. (Remember to try using ACID Pro 3's Export Loops feature, under "File>Export Loops" on the menu bar.) 2. Sounds iffy. Do you mean separate the waveform of the track itself, essentially rearranging it rhythmically? You could use ACID Pro 3's excellent Chopper for that as well. (The same could probably be said for Recycle.) Use "View>Chopper" on the menu bar. 3. Could be possible. Can Cubase be set as slave for MIDI sync? If so, you might want to install SF's Virtual MIDI Router (Available here.) and set ACID Pro as the master. Even so, you might just be better off producing the MIDI in Cubase and bringing it into ACID Pro 3. Can't help you too much on the specific Cubase questions, as I don't own the program. Sorry.
