SF Pro 10.0d (Build 506), Windows 7 Pro, SP-1, Intel mother board with Realtek audio card included. I receive the following error when starting: "CTASIO Warning. There are no Creative audio products installed and running on the system that support ASIO." I click "OK" and the program executes as it always has on Windows 7. I previously disabled the Realtek card and installed a "Creative Labs SB Audigy 2 Value" card from an old XP system. This was a mistake. I later disabled the Creative card and removed it. I also deleted the WaveStudio software for Windows 7 that came with the card. I now use only the Realtek card. Can anyone give me any suggestions to eliminate the error message? |

SFPro still thinks the Creative Card is there? Perhaps you have to go to SFPro's Menu|Options|Preferences|Audio and select another soundcard.... |

This dialog is displayed by the Creative ASIO driver and is display when the driver is accesed and the hardware is not available. Whe Sound Forge starts it looks at all of the ASIO drivers registered and attempts to verify them. Typically if a drivers hardware is not installed, the driver notifies quietly. The creative ASIO driver shows this dialog box. Did you run the uninstaller for the Creative Driver? To fix this manually, search our knowledge base for "CTASIO". ChristoC, "Microsoft Sound Mapper" is selected. The word "Creative" is not an option in the pull-down menu. Tow other options in the pull-down menue are "Direct Sound Surround Mapper" and "Windows Classic Wave Driver". Should I keep the "Microsoft Sound Mapper" option? What is the purpose of this option? Which do I want? |

SonyPCH, The only program I installed and uninstalled was the WaveStudio application. Therefore, I believe that installed the driver. Possibly it was installed when I put in the audio card and Windows 7 automatically installed the driver. The file "ctasio.dll" appears in 8 different folders off the "C:\Windows" folder. I backed up the registry and then tried to follow the instructions in your database. I was not sure what I was doing and stopped. Is there anyway to delete the driver by going through some process other than editing the registry? I know there are registry cleanup programs, but are they safe or do they do too much work? Larry |

The only way to fix this is to install using the Creative supplied tool or by editing the registry, The problem with deleting the offending DLL is that creative installed an auto restore hook that will detect that the dll is missing and reinstall it. Did you locate the key: HKEY_Local_Machine/Software/ASIO? If so, did you find a key with in this folder that indicates it is associated to Creative? If you do, right click on it and select delete. While editing the registry can cause problems, this particular key has a very limited scope. Just make sure you only delete the keys that have creative in the name. If you are not sure, list the items you see and post them here and I will be glad to verify that you are deleting the correct key, Peter Message last edited on7/7/2013 12:01:10 PM bypwppch. |

One other option to try 1) Click the Start menu and select run 2) type in cmd 3) type "cd c:\windows\system32\drivers" 4) type "regsvr32 /u CTASIO.dll" This assumes that the name of the creative ASIO driver is CTASIO.dll. Peter |
