If I take a guitar loop that is in A and make a cord progression in key of A. Say A D E the D and E don't sound right and have a tremelo for better word on them.
This seems to be the case with most loops It seems to be a problem with almost any loop I change the pitch on. I Use Acid 2.0

Post,

The difficulty in your situation has to do with the instrument's timbre. A guitar has a very specific "voice" that is composed of many different kinds of frequencies. Depending on what string you play, the overtones change, giving each note a very specific sound, so while an A4 vibrates faster than a B3, they sound completely different from one another because of the overtone series. Thus, the timbre is different. When you record a D major chord in Acid, your're going to record D major overtones as well. The timbre will "feel" in that range. But when a computer program mathematically transposes a wave sample, it's impossible to take timbre into account. Therefore, the further you stray from the original pitch, the stranger it will sound. I'd recommend sampling each chord on a twelve tone scale within one octave (ie, record a Cmaj, then a C#maj, then a Dmaj, etc). Perhaps do it twice, one for major, another for minor. Then "paint" each chord in the appropriate spot on your song. If you'd like to take less time, perhaps record only a few chords, and have Acid transpose them a notch or two. Just keep in mind, the further you stretch a sample, the more distorted its "color" will be.

Hope this helps,
Nick LaMartina

Thandks for the info. I guess I would think if they are going to make loops they would say make sets. For instance if they have a cord in a give also D and E. If anyone knows who makes loops this way please let me know. Also know of any good Loop CD's for blues drums and keyboards.

Thanks

If you have ACID Pro, try tinkering with the stretching properties for the track. (Double-click the track icon in the track list and select the "Stretch" tab.)

"Pitch shift segments" works great for extreme tempo changes. More info.
