Subject:Acid not rendering what I hear (10+ buses)

I've got an Athlon 1.33GHz machine, 512MB RAM, an SB Live value for playback and an Echo Mia for recording. I've got a track with 10 buses, not including master, all including effects chains. There are 2 weird things I see that strike me as bugs: 1. The last bus, bus J sometimes works. The first time I load my project and hit play, when it encounters an increasing volume assign to bus J, it completely ignores it unless I hit stop/pause and replay it. This happens every time I load the project. 2. The sound I hear Acid playing doesn't get rendered in that way. Most notably, the bass levels come out WAY low. No, there are no compressors built into it. And 2 of the other sounds on 2 different buses come out a little louder than I had set it. Whatever the case, it's distinctly different (and crappier) as compared to what I hear Acid playing back. This is the first time I've ever noticed this. Every other time I've worked with way less buses, as in 5 or less, and each time, what I heard is what I got. Is this just a capability limitation due to having so many buses and effects?? I wouldn't think that'd effect the resulting wave render though... |

1. Try using your Mia for playback? From my experience, the SB Live! wasn't that great a card for ACID Pro especially. The Mia is much better, IMHO. 2. Did you download the latest build of ACID Pro (3.0e)? I remember the first release of ACID Pro 3, which used to render my projects way lower in volume than the original projects. I haven't had any problems since the later builds. Remember to always contact tech support directly, especially if you find what you think is a bug. Iacobus |

Hello, I also responded to another of you're posts, But when you use two cards like that the Acid program can handle the cards OK but during playback Windows might handle them differently, Also on your track bus volume sliders, right click the slider and you can select Pre or Post volume and this might solve some of the rendering problems, it will keep sound from bleeding through effect busses to other tracks. There are 2 weird things I see that strike me as bugs: > Not sure what you mean by "I've got a track with 10 buses.."? are you saying that you have a single audio track in ACID that is routed to 10 buses using the main track as well as the Aux send busses? > How are you busses setup? Are they routed to the Master bus or directly to hardware? If the latter is true - routed directly to hardware - then the mixed wave will sound differently. Why? Because the gain stage for a bus routed directly to hardware cannot be accounted for when mixing multiple busses down to a stereo file. If you are hearing differences in the dynamics or EQ of the rendered file, then something is wrong externally to ACID. When ACID renders, it renders EXACTLY the same way as when it is playing back. The singal/code path is the same - with the exception mentioned about busses routed directly to hardware vs the Master bus. > This is the first time I've ever noticed this. Every other time I've worked with way less buses, as in 5 or less, and each time, what I heard is what I got. Is this just a capability limitation due to having so many buses and effects?? Did this problem occur with prior versions of ACID 3.0? Peter |
