I'm a new ACID Pro 3.0 user trying to learn how to use ACID's features for saving and ripping audio from my CD drive. When I try to assign a drive, ACID can't find it, even though my Toshiba Satellite Pro notebook does have a CD-R/RW drive. What's up? |

Somewhat of an answer to my own problem: I'm running Windows 2K and discovered that ACID *can* see my CD drive *iff* I login as Administrator. Anybody have an idea how to enable CD access for another user? |

I have the same problem with an internal Sony CD RW drive. The Device manager says that it is a CD RW CRX160E Scsi CD Rom Dev. When I got to write the CD it can't find any RW device. I have no problem with Adaptec Easy CD Creator, Direct CD or Quicken. I got ACID Music for Christmas and so far can't use it. By the way, Version 1 that I got with a HP external CD writer had the same problem. Their answer was to get a replacement CD from HP. So let me know when you find a solution rather than loggin in as admin. I installed ACID Music under my own ID not, admin. but I have the same priviledges. |

I read your answer about logging in as administrator and it still could not find my CD Burner. By the way the directions on knowledge base 1053 does work to save the file as a mixed wave file and write from another software package. I am also using Windows 2000 professional. |

Sorry for the belated reply. I'm still having the problem. ACID Pro 3.0 will only let me write (or read) to (from) the CD drive if I'm the Administrator on Win 2K. I guess it's not a terrible problem, but it's certainly a security issue. I suspect there's some way to give myself permission to access the drive...but that undoubtedly requires some kind of arcane chant. -rich- |
