I am trying to get my keyboard to work with my computer, so that i can record tracks onto my system and edit them. I have a Yamaha PSR-GX76 keyboard, and a Creative SB Live! sound card. The midi cable I bought at Circuit City. But, I cannot record anything, because it seems nothing is going into the computer. Can anyone help? |

Are you trying to trigger sounds from the computer, or record sounds from the keyboard into the computer? If it's the latter, you will need to connect the AUDIO OUT of the Yamaha keyboard to the AUDIO IN of your SoundBlaster. |

well, on my sound card, the audio in is a 15 prong female connection, so I bought a cable for that. cables fit into both machines, but nothing happens. |

Are you sure that's the audio in? On *most* sound cards, that 15 pin connector is the MIDI jack. The audio in/out connectors are often 1/8" stereo jacks, or on the more expensive models RCA/phono jacks. |

Are you trying to record MIDI in ACID? ACID Pro 3 is the only version of ACID that can record MIDI; ACID Pro 2 did not have this feature, so if you have any other version of ACID, use what Chienworks suggested and hook your audio output up instead. If you do have ACID Pro 3, and you still cannot record MIDI, make sure that MIDI OUT goes to MIDI IN and vice versa on your keyboard. Also make sure playback and record are enabled for MIDI in the SB Live! mixer. (I believe they are by default, but it doesn't hurt to check.) HTH, Iacobus |
