Hi,

unfortunately I just found out that I have been recording all my singing in mono. I am using Acid Pro 2.0 with a Sea Sound Solo 24bit digital mixer.

How do I change the settings so I can record in stereo,
do I have to re-record everything to make it stereo?

please reply,

thankyou

Tspree15,

I haven't any experience with the Sea Sound Solo mixer, but I do have a question for you... When you recorded your voice, did you use one microphone or two? If you just used one, there's no problem recording in mono since you only have one channel anyway. If you used two mics, you still might be okay. Usually people use two mics to open the sound a bit in a stereo mix, but if the two signals were to be combined into a mono channel, I think you'd be okay (since you're recording in 24 bit anyway).

Personally, I like recording my own vocal performances in mono. To me, there's very little benefit capturing my voice with two mics unless I'm using two completely different models for the sake of coloration. But usually I use just one. Later, during the mixing process, I'll add some reverb and delay stereo imaging. The combination of the two sounds more realistic to me than simply taking two channels and panning them to the left and right. In the end though, it's recording theory, not recording fact. Do what your ear likes best.

Hope this helps,
Nick LaMartina

Sound Forge (and Sound Forge XP, which comes with ACID Pro) allows you to convert a mono file into a stereo file.

Forgot to add (as always) that Sound Forge XP cannot work with 24-bit files. 16-bit is the maximum.
