Timer Controlled HD recorder

Hello Vegas users. I record Bar and Bat Mitzvah services at a temple that does not allow manned recording during the event. This involves feeding the signal from a camera to two recording devices with battery backup. I would like to be able to capture high definition video signals on a timer system but cannot seem to find a device that will work.
Does anyone know of a portable recorder that can be set to record at an appointed time from a firewire or component video HD input? Cable TV DVRS do this wonderfully but only work with cable signals.
any help appreciated.

no, but how long would it run if you started at the beginning of the event? I can get 4.5 hours of HDV or DV on my HVR-DR60 Hard Disk Recorders.

Does this unit support timer controlled recording? This is the "must have" feature as the temple does not allow a person to be there to start the recording. I also wondered if there is anyone who can "hack" one of these recorders to add the feature.

Most dashcams (in-car recorders) will start recording when they receive a +5 volt supply and will record 1080p at 30 fps for 3 plus hours using a 32Gb SD card.

So all you need is a domestic timer which will power a 5 volt regulator. Job done.

I use one of these in my car: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mobius-ActionCam-Full-HD-Sports-Camera-1080P-30FPS-720P-60FPS-Pocket-Camcorder-/151071891306?pt=Camcorders_Professional_Video_Cameras&hash=item232c961f6aMobius DashCam[/link]

Which gives superb results (Disregard the F900 footage and make allowances for YouTube resampling):

"This is the "must have" feature as the temple does not allow a person to be there to start the recording"

When would you go to set up the camera and start the timer?

If it is a one-hour ceremony (just guessing) then go to the camera an hour prior and start recording. So what if you have an hour of empty seats, then maybe another hour after the ceremony? Just edit out the "dead air".

Wow-thanks for the reply. Interesting idea. Not sure of the audio though as the temple provides a sound feed via rca line level connector. I could probably use a dvd recorder to record the audio and then sync in post.

Would this trigger the video recording function of the dslr? Also not sure if the battery would hole up since the camera would have to be left powered on for about a day.

The sabbath for this temple begins Friday evening so gear has to be set up no later than Friday afternoon. The ceremony is Saturday morning.

Finally, the missing detail.
Look at surveillance DVR's. With a big enough HDD you can record 12-hours of HD unattended.

How about a wireless Lanc controller?

OK. Will look into that. The XHA1s I have can output HD from firewire or RGB only so would need a DVR that can accept one of these.
