Subject:Error opening file

I get an error messege when i open any file, it says: A Necessary COM interface was not available. You may need to reboot you computer.

After I reboot my computer, I still get the same note. I started getting this error when I upgraded from Windows ME to Win2k pro. Can anyone help me fix this, PLEASE!

I started getting this message last night after i had to reinstall windows. It only happened with some of the projects i tried opening, which was rather confusing.

I finally fixed it by reinstalling DirectX. I installed both DX81eng.exe and dx80dba.exe, and now i don't get that error anymore.
