Multicam feature

Doing my 1st project to put into use the Multicamera feature and I've got a question. I did some basic color matching on one of the 2 video tracks that I shot before I turned on the Multicamera option. When I created the Multicamera track, it told me that all my effects and such would be lost and indeed they were. Is that just for the work with the multicamera feature or are the modifications I made lost for good? I was able to color correct the one track all at once instead of clip by clip but if the corrections are lost I'll have to go through each clip again and reset everything.

Thanks,

Mike

Yes they are lost, sorry. You can make CC but you should do it on media level not track or event level. That way it will be still effective even in the multi track. I usually first do CC to match the footage from the various cameras in media level, then create the multicam track and make minor correction for scenes on the event level.

My workflow; Multicam. Tidy up any cuts+Audio. CC. Any CC before multicam will affect preview playback (may be problematic depending on your M/C)

I do my CC (or any other FX) actually DURING MC edit. This way, I have much better comparo between takes when i change them - if the oe which I just made active is odd, I fix it on media level.

If the presence of Media FX is too much a burden for playing back the MC track, just turn all FX off when you need full fps at Best/Full.

I think it's more efficient to do all my cuts and edits with no effects in the chain. Then add media fx, event fx, etc.

My projects are most often straightforward and sequential, though. Mine is not necessarily a great creative workflow.
