Umm...yes? ;) Any audio you use in ACID should be ACIDized somehow (turned into a One-shot, Loop or Beatmapped type of file). All of the loop libraries from Sonic Foundry contain loops that are ACIDized. Some third party collections also ACIDize their collections (but not all). For more info on ACIDizing files, click here. Don't forget that Sound Forge XP 5 comes free with ACID Pro 3.0. It's not quite as powerful as its full-fledged cousin (Sound Forge 5) but it can get the job done for most people. One thing both versions have in common is the ability to ACIDize your custom, recorded files for use with ACID. Another way to create your own custom beats is to use One-shots (those snippets of audio designed to play once in any given event) and arrange them accordingly in ACID. You'd then solo them, set the loop region so that it covers the area you want to bounce down and then render them together to a new track. (CTRL+M is the keyboard shortcut.) Once happy with the result, you could then delete the original tracks from the project. Still another way is to use the Chopper (ALT+2 on your keyboard) to extract part of a loop that you'd like to have, or just simply rearrange a loop to your liking. (Be sure to add the loop and choose the track to your project first or you won't be able to manipulate it with the Chopper.) I could go on and on, but this is just to get you started. There's a lot more to it, especially if you'd like to create your own loop-type material. Iacobus |
