i have acid and XP...never seen this error...you say this error appeared only AFTER you reinstalled XP? could it be an issue with directX not being installed in the XP reinstall? just guessing...i have no idea. i'd like to know because i need to reinstall my XP too and would like to avoid any problems!

No,its not a direct X prob.
whats funny is that I have the same prob with sound forge 5.0f
everything was perfect before(even if I know that I'm not the only one with the compatibility mode prob.)
I've been reading about it for SF 5.0f but not for acid ...so I 'm still hoping ...
Cheers.

Try completely uninstalling ACID and then do a reinstall using the latest build?

I have Windows XP too and haven't had problems thus far using ACID Pro or Sound Forge, though I did a fresh install of everything rather than upgrade.
