dear reader,

I am having troble getting acid 2.0 to record from my mic, and I had just recently upgraded my sys to windows 98 os along with a 40 gigabyte local hard drive from 9x with 98upgrade, unfortunatly;I had success when I used the 9x with 98upgrade, and now I cannot seem to record from the sound card mic line as I was previously in acid 2.0 with 9x&98upgrade.

(1)I have reconfigured my bios plug and play settings (from enable to disable which was keeping from recieving any kind of playback, but after disabling I can hear music form the cd rom and can burn from the cd writer with the monitor speakers as the output line on the new soundcard.

(2)next I went to start menu/programs/accessories/multimedia, and set the volume controls/options/properties etc.

so is there any step that I can be missing or retake? thanks!!!!!!

Try downloading the latest drivers for you soundcard and install them again? Something might've gotten yoinked during the upgrade.

I always advise against performing an upgrade installation; always install new when you can. Of course, that means you have to backup your files and all but I think it's worth the hassle.

Have you checked the recording settings in the sound mixer control panel? Performing the upgrade probably set all your inputs back to the defaults, which is probably line in instead of mic in.
