Suddenly my file explorer window in ACID is very slow to list the files in a directory. Like a second or two. Anyone else experience this? |

There are some issues when a directory contains a lot (1000+) of files. If you are refreshing the view of a CD drive, this amount of time is about right. Ted |

I've found that explorer window updates from my hard drive can also be badly slowed when there's a CD mounted in the CD-ROM drive, even if i'm not looking at that drive. If you have a disc in the drive and you don't need to access it, try ejecting it. That may speed things up even on the hard drive. |

Removing the CD from the CD-ROM drive seemed to help quite a bit. Strange. |

I think it's a Windows 98SE and higher thing. I never noticed it back when i was running 95. But now i really notice it especially in Save As dialog screens. If i have a CD in the drive it can sometimes take almost a full minute for the directory listing to show up. Without a CD in the drive it's usually near instant. Very strange indeed. |

The CD thing is definitely a big part of it. If it takes some time for the CD drive to spin up, ACID doesn't know what to refresh the Explorer to until the drive's been read properly. HTH, Joel |

I assume this is a Windows problem, since i see it some in most other software. It's just annoying that Windows spins up the CD drive even when we're not having explorer access it. *sigh* |
