I took advantage of the Magix offer to upgrade from MS13 to Vegas Pro. I'm glad I hadn't paid £450 for it!
FIrst disappointment is that NewBlue Titler EX cannot be licensed. It works fine but with a watermark. So I am faced with further expense for a good titler. Vegas does include Sony ProType Title which may be useful, it will need more studying. There's a lesson to be learnt - dont be influcened in choice of a software product by what extras it is bundled with!
Second, I had hoped that the advanced sound features would include the option to mix 5.1 sound by having a single timeline track on which you can place a volume envelope to fade all 6 channels simultaneoulsy instead of as in Movie Studio tediously fading each channel seperately. You can do just that with the Surround Master - but then any other channels eg music or effects are faded as well. I tried routing the other channels to another bus but while it sounds correct in the monitor speakers the extra bus doesnt go into the render. Am I missing something?
Third, A plus point is DVD Architect 6 which can now make Bluray discs with 5.1. That works but iI am suprised the monitoring does not work in in 5.1, for instance a surround ac3 is still shown only as a stereo track.
Good points are I can now customise the keyboard and buttons. It's hard to go back to the tiny buttons - I actually liked the big buttons in MS13 but there weren't enough of them.
