I've been trying to put a mix together (using wav files I recorded from viynl) in Acid 2.0. I want to do a 70 or so minute mix & then burn it to CD. I'm using Acid because I want to be able to mix other loops & FX over the top. The trouble I'm having is that I have to adjust the BPM of each song I import in order to beat mix it perfectly. The only way I've found to do this is with the 'Strech from tempo' option which changes the sound quality of my songs. All the songs I'm using are around 130 bpm but the change still causes problems. I've just found out about the beatmapper function in the new versions of Acid. Would this allow me to change the tempo of each song without it effecting the sound quality? |

FIRST QUESTION IS, DO YOU HAVE SOUND FORGE? IF YOU DO, TIME STRETCH YOUR TRAX IN THAT FIRST ( I KNOW ITS A PAIN IN THE ASS, BUT IT WORKS A LOT BETTER ) IF YOU DONT OWN SOUND FORGE I HIGHLY RECCOMEND YOU GETTING IT. I HAVE USED ACID TO MAKE MIX CD'S ALSO. ONCE YOU GET IT DOWN, IT WORKS GREAT. ( TIME CONSUMING, BUT WORKS GREAT )THE NEW ACID WITH THE BEAT WIZARD DOES WORK JUST A LITTLE BIT BETTER, BUT I HAVE BOTH VERSIONS OF ACID AND STILL USE THE OLD ONE MUCH MORE ( LESS RESOURCE HUNGRY )ANYWAY, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, I HAVE N0OTICED THAT THE WHOLE PROJECT DEPENDS ON HOW YOU STRETCH YOUR FIRST TRACK. KEEP THE SONGS AS CLOSE TO THEIR ORIGINAL B.P.M. AS POSSIBLE. A VERY ACCURATE AND COOL THING I DOWNLOADED WAS A THING CALLED "BPM WIZARD" ITS FREE AND ITS A BEAT CALCULATOR. VERY ACCURATE!!! WHEN PLAYING A SONG, JUST CLICK ON IT AND IT WILL SHOW YOU THE B.P.M. DOWN TO A TENTH OF A BEAT. IT SEEMS TO BE VERY CLOSE IN ACCURACY TO ACIDS BPM RECOGNITION. HOPE THAT HELPS A LITTLE. IF YOU HAVE MORE QUESTIONS, FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME AT : DJMARCAROT123@AOL.COM I'VE BEEN USING ACID FOR YEARS ( THE PROGRAM!! ) I KNOW IT QUITE WELL. GOOD LUCK --MARC |

Cheers for the tips. I do have sound forge. I actualy recorded all the tracks from viynl using it. how do you time stretch accurately in sound forge? Is it just a case of trial & error? I'll have to check out bpm wizard. I did download a similar bpm counter where you tap along to a track to take measuremant but it wasn't accurate down to a tenth of a beat. |

I think I've found the answer to my problems in the form of Acid 3.0's beatmapper. I downloaded the demo to check it out & initial try outs look very promising. I used beatmapper to work out the tempo of 2 tracks then matched them to the bpm of the song. I then pasted the 2 tracks next to each other & hit play. The beats stayed in time for the whole 2 minutes that the demo gives you to play around with. F**cking marvelous. It seems as long as you sort things out in beatmapper properly your in business. I need to try it out more but with the tracks I used I didn't notice any problems with the sound quality. Looks like I could be on to a winner here. Acid music 3.0 for £30? F**king bargain mate :-) |
