Subject:Tempo control on each track would be nice...

Ok, heres the situation...
a great update for 4.0 ( when and if it comes out ) in my oppinion would be a nice, simple tempo slider on each track. right underneath the pan and volume controls. obviously, we all know about the main project tempo...
but just say, for the people who may make mix cd's or multiple trax that need to be beatmixed with each other, a nice, simple tempo control to play with!?!? what do ya think? when you bring a song in, you use the beat wizard to set the track's BPM, if you had individual control over each track's beat per minute, i think that would be a great feature. ( now, in order to beat match songs, you gotta go through hell and high water to do it...and sometimes the stretching is just way too degrading to sonic quality )1 song at 135 bpm, another at 137, just a simple tweak of a tempo control on the track, and POOF...all matched up! ( just like you do on your turntables to beatmix ) So, good idea?? i'd like to see what some of you think on it, or if you think it would just be a useless feature. As far as i know, it would be an industry first (in this manner anyway)

Have you tried mucking around with double-clicking on a Beatmapped track and futzing with the General and Stretch tabs?

There's a feature under the General tab, "Preserve pitch while stretching," while underneath the Stretch tab, there's an "Original tempo" setting that'll let you adjust the tempo down to 1/1000th of a beat.

Hmmmmmm. My initial reaction is that anytime that might be useful, you'd be better off working in Vegas instead of ACID. If you're just making a mix collection rather than creating loop-based music, then the tempo isn't the problem you're working on, just the pitch or speed. In Vegas, these issues are non-issues already. If you're using ACID to create loop-based music, then having separate tempos for tracks wouldn't seem to make much sense.

Consider that in your analogy with the turntables, all you're doing is changing the speed of the playback. You're not really concerned with the tempo as a musical concept. If that's the case, then you can get what you want out of ACID by time-stretching and turning off snapping. These are things you can already do with the current version.

Am i making sense? (picture me sitting here scratching my head in wonder over the reasons for this request ...)

I was assuming marcarotsky wanted to add to the mix somehow.

Indeed, Chienworks makes a great point. Vegas (or Sound Forge even) would be more aptly suited in the case of just making a mix collection.
