hello all,
i just received a couple of Dxi synths and they sound SICK!
i'd like to record some one shots and maybe a riff or two.
what is the best way?

should i send it out of my soundcard and back in again using either Acid or Sound Forge to record it?

would i be able to record it while the music is playing?

problem:
i can'tseem to play it and have acid going at the same time.
Error states:
"The playback device Analog 1 & 2 Outputs does not support the current output format".
or that "analog 1 & 2 Outputs are currently in use"

any ideas?
much luv.

What program are you using the DXi's with Sonar? In which case you should record a couple of lines and save to a wave file. Then import them into either soundforge5 or acid to add the finishing touches to them..."acidizing" in other words. Not that necessary but if you want to loop it properly you have to go that route. Still though you can just import the wave file and just cut it up in the chopper tool and do it that way...Acid cannot use DXi's...yet[It better!!!!!!] so those error messages might be coming from the manner in which you were trying to play the sounds. What kind of soundcard are you using. For what you are asking you need a multi in/out card...I use a Layla 20bit with 8in/8out. With different programs open your card needs to be "multiclient" capable. What that means for me is that I can have Vegas Video open with Acid Pro and I set up my outputs as such...Vegas[outputs 1-2],acid[outputs3-4]...I can even have Soundforge 5 open and use my outputs 5-6 for playback. Don't forget though that you would need a mixer to route these outputs to so that all this can be summed to your speaker mains [Left/Right]. Later.
