i gotta tell you, these forums are great. learn quite a bit!! good to see us sonic foundry guys know our sh*t!!! but anyway.... been using acid and sound forge for years. everyone is talking about vegas audio now!?!? what are the benefits of vegas over acid? my primary use of acid is for remixing music. therefore a lot is loop manipulation, creation, effects and tempo stretching. also a lot of hard disk trax being cut up quite a bit and sequenced in acid. i know acid does the job pretty well, but is vegas better for remixing? i would love to hear some comments on this... thanx --marc -oh, by the way...HOW THE HELL DO I LINK MY MPC200XL TO ACID??? does anyone know if midi even truly exists on acid??? |

There is a lot of overlap between ACID and Vegas. However ... ACID is primarily a loop-based music creation tool, with minimal recording ability. Vegas is primarily a multitrack audio recording/editing tool with minimal "musical manipulation" ability. |

Basically sounds like ACID (Pro 3?) is more your app of choice. Having Sound Forge makes it that much sweeter. Always would suggest that if one has either ACID or Vegas to definitely pick up Sound Forge for its powerful audio editing. (Sound Forge XP Studio comes with ACID Pro. It's great but it's just a tease to what the full-fledged version can do.) Vegas' strength lies in its multitracking capabilites (like recording from multiple sources at once). What is it that you want to exactly do with the MPC2000XL? Record? Sync? I believe in order to sync, you must set up the "Sync" tab under "Options>Preferences" on the menu bar and select the appropriate port your MPC is connected to. (Be sure to select the appropriate devices under the "MIDI" tab first.) HTH, Iacobus |
