Phew ! Fantastic list of tips. However, I might add that disabling the "portable music player" option will usually disable the dongle-checking of sequencer programs. If you are "dongled" then best to leave this on.

Otherwise, great list. Is this "borrowed" from somewhere, or your own ?

Wouldn't it just be better to post that Bluelife link instead of clogging this forum up with all these posts? I know we all want a smooth running DAW but this is an Acid forum so let's talk up Acid shall we?

This is a good tweak list and a good reference for many users who may not frequent other forums.

hi people
blue here from the audio zone, just found this over a referrer.
As some members were nice enough to mention, please do not just cut and paste articles from the audio zone, it costs me time and money running the place (for nothing!) and Craig runs the optimisation site for nothing too, so show some respect and at least say where you steal things from if you really have to steal it in the first place.

cheers all

Duly noted, Blue. Whenever I come across a site that I think people should check out, I always post a link. (See?) :)

Hmmm...I suggested posting just the link way back in this thread. Oh well, maybe it just takes a few months to set in...

Cheers,

Just found this really nice link with a wealth of info on services presented in table form with suggestions on wich ones to disable/set to manual:

http://www.blkviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

I have managed to reclaim abpot 45MB Ram so far after some conservative tweaks on an internet-connected PC. The only slight hiccups is that Acid Pro-3 and Vegas Video-3 displays a message after loading; "An error ocurred starting Acid/Vegas. The reason for the error could not be determined." These apps seems to function without problems though. Soundforge 6 did not complain about the tweaks, but of course YMMV.
