Subject:Syncing Acid to Video Timeline question

I'm trying to adjust the timeline so that it sync's to video tapes tape I work with (beta, D-2, D-8).
Usually when I receive a video in the advertising industry the tape is striped with smpte, with the begginning of the tape starting at 00:59:30.00, and then the Video starts on the Hour (ie 01:00:00.00. Well in Acid I would like to set it up so the time line correlates to the Video when synced up. I want Acid to chase to the video, with a 30 second pre-roll. So in other words, I set the start of the timeline to 59:30.00, and I will start my actual audio in acid at 1:00:00.00. This is no problem in changeing the Time line. The problem is that I also want to move the measure/beat time line along with this. I want measure 1, beat 1 to start with the 1:00:00.00 start of the audio. Is this possible? The only way I'm able to accomplish this is to set the timeline to 1:00:00.00 at the start of the project, which get's rid of any pre-roll that I might want, thus not allowing me to put any audio in front of the 1 Hour start time. Anyone know how to accomplish this?

Hi Brian-

There's not any way to start the measures/beats ruler at measure -5 beat 1, if that's what you're asking, which is what I think you are.

Probably the closest you can come to this is to drop the cursor at 5.1 or 9.1 (or 10.1, wherever), and choose View/Time Ruler/Set Time at Cursor. Set it for 1:00:00.00, and have your events start at measure 5, beat 1.

HTH,
Joel

Thanks, for the response joel that's what I'll have to do. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't over looking something.
